Last month the hubby and I had the pleasure to visit Universal Studios Hollywood. We shared previously about much of what the park had to offer, such as the Backlot tour, which includes the old favorites like King Kong, the War of the Worlds set, Jaws & the Psycho house. Also fun (relatively) new stuff like the Fast & the Furious-Supercharged which includes 3D-HD Imagery in a 360 degree display.

We have been to Universal Studios Hollywood a couple of times as a couple, most recently in October for the Halloween Horror Nights. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was not yet open, so we were excited to go back and see what all the buzz was about.

From magical spells to magical creatures, from dark villains to daring heroes, it’s all there at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™. We were excited to explore the mysteries of Hogwarts™ castle, visit the shops of Hogsmeade™, and sample fare from some of the wizarding world’s best-known establishments. Plus we were able to experience the pulse-pounding rides and attractions that transported us into a world of magical thrills and excitement.

One of the hubby’s favorite rides in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. In this ride, you can join Harry Potter™ and his friends on an unforgettably thrilling adventure, coming face-to-face with an array of magical creatures. This amazing attraction uses groundbreaking, state-of-the-art technology (and a little magic) to create a one-of-a-kind ride. The hubby wanted to ride it over and over and because we had the front of the line pass (Which I highly recommend), we were able to go a few times.

One of the favorites things about this area of the park is the incredible architecture and authenticity in the entire Wizarding World. From the train conductor who you can take a selfie with as soon as you enter the area, next to the Hogwarts express train. The shop where you can buy all your wizard gear a even find your own special wand that as we know, is special to you and as unique as your magical personality. You can also buy your own Hogwarts uniform and even your own flying broom.

At night time, the buildings light up and the street and castle is straight from the movie. You would swear you are in the center of Hogwarts.

One of the rides in the Wizarding World is called Flight of the Hippogriff. As part of the ride, you enter the Care of Magical Creatures and pass by Hagrid’s hut, where you’ll hear Fang barking. As you make your way onto the ride, Hagrid gives instructions on the proper way to approach a Hippogriff. A Hippogriff is a magical creature that has the front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a horse. Flight of the Hippogriff™ is a family-friendly roller coaster that spirals and dives around the pumpkin patch, and then swoops past Hagrid’s hut.

The bottom line is that the Wizarding World is it’s own park within a park and we spent a few hours there and then went back again in the evening before we left. I think that the Wizarding World has become a big part of Universal Studios Hollywood and will be as much an iconic draw as Jaws or the back lot tour itself.

We had not reached our car in the parking lot yet, before we were both asking when we wanted to come back again.

How about you? Have you been to Universal Studios Hollywood, or Florida maybe? Let me know what you thought about it. I would love to know your thoughts.
