Sunset Regional Park is considered by many the best all around multi-use park in the Las Vegas area and possibly the Clark County park system. The park has been open and located centrally in Vegas since 1967 at the corner of Sunset road and Eastern avenue. The park consists of 324 total acres, making Sunset the largest and probably the most diverse park in the Las Vegas area. A recent expansion added new playgrounds, a splash pad, walking trails, shaded picnic areas, and open turf areas in the center of the park. A Reservation Office has also been added to offer fishing, sports equipment and bicycle rentals.
Sunset Park is a frequent winner of the Readers’ Choice Award for the Best Park in the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Best of Las Vegas poll for the last 5 years. This park has a little something for everyone’s taste, including tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, softball fields, a disc golf course, a dog park, walking and jogging trails, a lake where you can fish for free, with a fishing county license, and acres of open space and areas to stretch out.
This place witnessed several family celebrations and even a simple family gathering over a weekend. Sunset Park is also a great place for events like the last month’s Petapalooza where the hubby and I attended. The bottom line is, the park is a great place to experience a wide range of experiences.
Hopefully, if you live here in Vegas or plan to visit, I can say that this is one of the places where memories are made at this oasis in the middle of the desert.
Until next time!
