My Chocolate Find for World Chocolate Day

I must admit that chocolate is one of the keys to my happiness and is a big stress reliever for me. So when I learned that World Chocolate Day was coming up on July 7th, I knew I needed to find the best chocolate to celebrate. Of course, we all know that we can find chocolate almost anywhere, but I’m going to share with you how to find a true quality, top-notch chocolate while you are in Las Vegas. In preparation for World Chocolate Day, I went back to one of my favorite places on the Las Vegas strip, Grand Canal Shoppes inside The Venetian Resort.

As I mentioned, chocolate is everywhere and it can be confusing and overwhelming to know where to go for the best options. I found two places in The Shoppes that elevate chocolate to another level. One is like a mini Willy Wonka shop where there is more information about chocolate than I have ever seen in one place. The other shop imports chocolate from Japan where chocolate is used in unique ways and it has become a cultural phenomenon. I’m going to share my insider tips and let you know where these gems can be found.

Royce’s Chocolate is centrally located in Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort near the Gondola next to the walking bridges. Royce’s started in 1983 and opened their first chocolate shop on Madison Ave in New York City in 2012.

@Roycechocolate chocolates are precisely crafted using only the highest quality ingredients. Royce’s has been making amazing, world-class confections in Hokkaido (the northernmost island of Japan), which is known for it’s cool climate, making it an ideal place for producing high quality chocolates.

Royce’s specializes in chocolate flavors you likely won’t find elsewhere like Sakuraberry & Sakurawhite, Strawberry Nama chocolate and even Matcha Green Tea chocolate. If you are looking for unique flavors or have loved ones you wish to buy amazing chocolate gift sets for, this is the place for you.

The second chocolate shop I recommend at The Shoppes is Dandelion Chocolate. You won’t find this shop along the restaurant row or near most of the other retail areas. It can be a little tough to find but it is well worth the search. You will find Dandelion Chocolate adjacent to the #VenetianVegas casino, on the first floor. Your best option is to try using Google Maps (BONUS TIP: I recommend logging into the free Grand Canal Shoppes or Venetian WIFI available for all visitors) as cell phone service can be spotty inside the enormous complex, or if you are good at cartography (which I am not), use the directory maps!

Dandelion Chocolate is not just a store but like a mix between a Chocolatière factory and a library. I can stay here all day and learn about their chocolates. Their chocolates are not the chocolates you see in the grocery store. Thanks to my guide Adrian, I learned that the  chocolates we usually eat only contain 15% cacao and the rest are other flavors, ingredients and sugar. Dandelion chocolates contain between 70% to 100% cacao. They get their cacao beans from all over the world from places like Columbia, Venezuela, India, Africa, and many more. They have such unique variations you just won’t find elsewhere.

They have classes that teach you all you need to know from the harvesting of the cacao beans to the roasting, tempering, wrapping, and my favorite part, eating! Now that stores are starting to reopen, they plan on adding coffee, espresso & hot chocolate drinks very soon and I can’t wait to try it.

As I mentioned at the beginning of the blog, World Chocolate Day is coming and knowing I can be prepared and satisfy my cravings, just by visiting one of my favorite places in Las Vegas is exciting. I hope the next time I am at The Shoppes I will see you and maybe we can chat about chocolate. See you there and online loves.
